How abstinence of 48 days changed my life.

One day i went to the hospital for rashes. Doctor inspected my body and said it is due to my poor eating habit and drinking. I just quit from my previous job three months ago due to work pressure. I was drinking heavily. I was direction less and confused.  In this i will explain how my abstinence helped me to get back to my life and to be super productive. 

What is abstinence? 

Abstinence is simply stopping bad habits affecting your life. It may be heavy drinking, meat or even toxic relationships.

It may be anything that you want to quit for a long time but unable to quit due to lack of plan and courage. 

Abstinence in bible.

Corinthians 12:21

I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged.

Timothy 2:22

Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Even today nuns in christianity follow chastity. You can always see them reciting bible versus and how they committed themselves to their god.

How you can change your life through abstinence. 

No one is asking you to follow celibacy and chastity. But you can change your ruined life through a set of schedules and practices. 

Many young people waste their precious life dwelling in their past which is killing their future.

Rather than being drug addict you can spend your precious time on shopping with your parents and friends. Rather than living in your dark past you can make yourself busy in your office or business. You can clean you home or plant some trees or even reddit debates are good.

Types of abstinence. 

There are three common abstinence. 

a. Alcohol abstinence 

b. Failure abstinence  

c. Relationship abstinence 

During abstinence there is one common problem is days. How many days should i follow abstinence. For example in west it is 21 days, in islam they do it for a month. Finally in hinduism they do it for 48 days. I have personally tried 48 days of abstinence. They were effective and fruitful in delivering the result. 

How to follow abstinence. 

Your practicing of abstinence should start with quitting alcohol. If you quit alcohol, you win the game. Now set up a target what you want to achieve in your life. Set up a period of 48 days. It may be anything like

a. Quit drinking or smoking

b. Get rid of toxic past

c. Get rid of relationship

c. To rebuild your life

d. You want to be first in your exams

Put a note book.

I hate smartphone charts. I always prefer old style of using diary. Set what you want to do for the next 48 days. What are the habits you want to quit and what are the habits you want to add in your life. Set up a proper schedule and checklist. 

Be fixed on morning and night.

Most people fail in their abstinence is because they fail to wake up at morning and late night sleep. Example if you set alarm at 6 am in the morning and you wake up in the 8 am. Your whole day will be spoiled. The same for the night. If you set the sleeping time at 9 pm and you are watching movies till 11 pm. You lose the abstinence and your life as well. Your mind is your friend. If you practice, it will give you beautiful life and opportunity. If you don't follow the schedule and don't do even the simple task. You will lose your confidence and will power.

Control over your eating. 

You should have the control over your eating. Strictly avoid alcohol during abstinence. You may avoid meat as well at least during abstinence and try light foods. Drink a lot of coffee. You can also try yoga. Especially kundalini or breathing exercise is a great way to clean your mind and life.

Doing the little job is enough.

In Japan children are asked only two things. One is to be on time. Second make them to do a minimum job. Example if you make a child to come at school daily at 9 am and do the reading for five minutes. You make it into a habit for one year. The child will come at 9 am and do the reading for five minutes. No matter what. Because that is made into  a habit. Do the little job or whatever you want to achieve in your life like writing, practicing or business. 

Avoid which is not good.

One of the major part in abstinence is to drop or avoid which is not good. If you want to quit smoking or alcohol. Just please don't go to the bar. Realise the problems it had created in your life. If someone dumped you. You can simply delete their photos in your mobile or PC. Instead you can try something new like learning music or learning graphic design or at least be addicted to xbox.  

Reevaluate your life.

Abstinence not only gives you time to change your habit but also you can reevaluate your life. Setting up the preferences. You can just sit and see where you missed and how can you improve. Most people in relationship always look at their broken love but they fail to turn their eyes on their own parents. Like how your parents need your help as a son. How you failed to protect them or be with them in their final days. You can switch your focus on right thing rather than dwelling in the past.

Love your life.

The fuel of your life is to be motivated and to have a burning desire. Where there is a will. There is a way. If you don't love your job, or if you don't want to work for your parents healthcare, if you don't want to work for your home and car nothing is going happen in your life. Love your life and have the burning desire. Everything will happen in your favour if you love and concentrate.


So abstinence is a period of 48 days. Rebooting your life. Following the right schedule, control over your food, doing the little tasks(goals) regularly. Removing the bad habits that killing your life. Abstinence is a great way of building your broken life.
